Change the World

Dear Friend:

These days, nearly everyone has heard the words
— “Love will transform the world” ...
— “The key to changing the world is compassion” ...
— “Be the change you want to see in the world.”

But have you ever wondered ...

When we are being taught at every turn about unconditional love and compassion and “being the change” and forgiveness and oneness, why is there so little love in the world today? Why are there more acts of violence, more divorces, more broken families than ever before?

Why are our relationships crumbling? Why are there fewer and fewer great parents and great leaders? Why is teamwork quickly becoming a thing of the past?

And when it comes to being the change, haven’t you ever wondered ...

— How do you love someone you just don’t like?
— How do you feel compassion for someone who is simply not nice to you?

These questions used to consume me. If we all don’t get the answers to these questions, how will we ever change our worlds? How will we ever live in peace and harmony with everyone we know — at home, at work? More importantly, how in the world will we ever change the world?

Clearly, it’s time for a radical change in what we’ve been doing to change the world. We can’t keep applying the same old solutions hoping for the results to be somehow different this time.

Indeed, history shows that every significant breakthrough in the world has first been a break from old traditions, old ways of thinking, old paradigms.

This is what compelled me to put together the book, Yes, You Can Change the World — a parable that illustrates that if we want to see a significant change in the world, we must first break away from our old views of how to change the world:
● Most people believe that, in order to change the world, we must be a politician, a world leader, a past president, a philanthropist, a celebrity, an inventor or an activist.
But history shows that the biggest changes in the world — the end of slavery, women’s rights, the rise of the internet and even the current passion for going green — started at the grassroots ... and then, the leaders followed.
● Most people also believe that changing the world requires we do things, give things, donate time and/or money.
But again history shows that all aid and donations — whether from developed nations to developing nations, whether from wealthy individuals to struggling friends/relatives — produce results that are temporary at best.
I wrote the book in the format of a simple parable to illustrate ...
● that each of us is equally vital to changing the world.
● that to start that change, we don’t have to do anything at all because all that’s necessary is a few simple shifts in how we see the people around us.
● that, once we make these simple shifts in perspective, we’ll receive huge paybacks in the form of a complete transformation of all our relationships ... and also, we will change the world!
This web site is designed to be used in conjunction with the book (or, not!).

Although use of this site is free, you do have to make a pledge vefore you receive access to its resources.

The pledge is not monetary. It is a commitment that you will use these resources as they were intended ... either through art (music, photos, paintings, etc) or insight (through small group gatherings).

The payback for this commitment is ... a transformation in your own world and also the world around you.

Clearly, there is a lot at stake and the change won’t happen without you.

So, join the movement. Start a SpreadChange in your community. And let’s go, change the world.
